By U-Bahn (Metro)
The U-Bahn is the fastest and most reliable way to reach Naschmarkt. Two stations serve the market, at opposite ends:
- U4 Kettenbrückengasse — the best stop for direct market access. The station sits at the western end of Naschmarkt beside the flea market car park. Exit onto Linke Wienzeile and the market stalls begin immediately.
- U1/U2/U4 Karlsplatz — at the eastern end of Naschmarkt, closer to the Opera House. Useful if you are coming from the city centre or the Stephansplatz area.
Service runs approximately 05:00–24:00 on weekdays and 05:00–02:00 on weekends, with trains every 2–4 minutes at peak. Night buses N60 and N62 cover the route after the metro closes.
By Tram (Straßenbahn)
Several tram lines stop within a few minutes' walk of Naschmarkt, making the tram a scenic and often more direct option:
- Tram 1 — stops at Karlsplatz, right at the eastern end of the market
- Tram 2 — stops at Schwarzenbergplatz and Karlsplatz, a 5–8 minute walk from the market
- Tram 60 — stops at Westbahnhof and Marx-Medlinger-Straße, connecting from the 15th and 16th districts
- Tram 62 — stops at Westbahnhof and Naschmarkt (Kettenbrückengasse), the most direct tram stop for the flea market end
Check the Wiener Linien website or the WienMobil app for current line routes — tram networks change frequently and some lines are diverted during market events.
By Bus
Several bus lines serve the area, particularly useful for visitors coming from the outer districts or for night travel:
- Day buses: 13A (stops at Kettenbrückengasse, the most direct bus stop at the market), 4A, 57A
- Night buses: N60 and N62 run after the U-Bahn closes, connecting Naschmarkt to the city centre and outer districts
By Bicycle & On Foot
Naschmarkt is in the city centre and is easily reached on foot from most central attractions. From Karlsplatz it is a flat 5-minute walk down the market itself; from Stephansplatz it is about 15 minutes along Kärntner Straße and Friedrichstraße. City bike schemes (Citybike Wien) have stations at Karlsplatz and Westbahnhof, and the market is flat and cycle-friendly along the Wienzeile.
🚗 Parking & Driving
Driving to Naschmarkt is not recommended — the area is congested, parking is scarce and expensive, and the market is best experienced on foot. If you must drive:
- Public car parks: the nearest is the Kettenbrückengasse car park (directly beside the U4 station and the flea market area). Additional parking is available at Karlsplatz and the Tiefgarage Opernring.
- Street parking: limited and mostly short-stay (blue zones with parking meters). On Saturdays the flea market uses the Kettenbrückengasse car park, so allow extra time to find a space.
- Drop-off: the most convenient drop-off point is on Linke Wienzeile at the Kettenbrückengasse end. Do not attempt to drive along the market itself — it is pedestrianised during market hours.

From the Airport
The most economical route uses Vienna's S-Bahn railway system. Take any S-Bahn train headed for Floridsdorf (departing every 30 minutes) until you reach Wien-Mitte station. Transfer to the U4 metro line toward Hütteldorf and exit at Karlsplatz station, located at the eastern end of Naschmarkt. For direct market access, continue one more stop to Kettenbrückengasse station, which provides entrance directly into the market area and car park.
🎫 Current Ticket Prices (2026 fares)

The most convenient option is by taxi, with fares negotiated as flat rates. For standard taxis, expect to pay approximately €35-€45 from Vienna International Airport to Naschmarkt, depending on traffic conditions and time of day.
From Kohlmarkt

The other great Market of Vienna is the "Coal market", though of course these days little relating to Coal is sold there, but rather this is the place to find Cartier, Giorgio Armani, Tiffany & Co. and Louis Vuitton with the green dome of Hofburg in the distance overlooking Michaelerplatz. It is an easy 15 minute walk from Kohlmarkt to Naschmarkt through interesting streets.
First face towards Michaelerplatz, you can see the green dome of Hofburg to guide you here, and walk into the platz which is roughly round. Go to the right and walk under the archway on Reitschulgasse and continue straight on , walking along the edge of the next square. Until you go through the narrow street and out beyond into Augustinerstrasse with it's small green park. Stay to the right here walking beside the cafe's and the Albertina entrance with it's modern overhanging roof, stay on the street level and do not go up the stairs.
Continue onto Opengasse which is a wide main road with much traffic. Continue on for 3 blocks when you will see the green Karlsplatz trees on your right but continue onwards on the left of Friedrichstrasse pas the gold domed Succession on your right, then across the road ahead and to left you can see the beginning of the Nascmarkt.
